The artists of Tres Artistas MADI Venezolanos: Angel Hernandez, Octavio Herrera, and Saverio Cecere will discuss their ideology and artwork.
What is Arcadia? The romantic notion of Arcadia is based on a rugged area on the Peloponnesian Peninsula for which it is named. The mountainous wilderness was secluded from invasions and this ancient region became known as a haven where music, art, and literature flourished.
When the museum acquired the Arcadia sign that formerly adorned the famous lower Greenville Avenue venue, the Arcadia Salon was created to provide a place for art patrons and artists to interact and discuss
relevant topics in the contemporary art scene. Held periodically on Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30, the salon features a wine and cheese bar with lively discussions led by artists or experts in their field. It launched in September of 2007 with a provacative talk about public art led by Gail Sachson, Vice Chair of the
City of Dallas Cultural Affairs Commission. Since its inception, the Arcadia Salon has featured artists, collectors, and educators including Betty Gold, Roger Winter, Ania Borzobohaty, Maria Arvalaiz-Gordon, Saverio Cecere, Simone Debbas, Betty Blake and Jim Allumbaugh.
